So what do you do when you don't want to write. Do you fight it, join it, ignore it, wish it would go away? Or all the above.
I've tried them all and except for wishing it away, which seems to get me nowhere, they all work at different times. If I fight it, chances are I will write something, but usually wind up chucking it out the window, the heart isn't in it.
Joining it works better for me. Walking away but not ignoring it, thinking about the project while not under pressure to put it on paper clears my head and unblocks whatever was stopping me in the first place. I call it my gestation time, time to let it sit inside of me, clarify and grow.
Of course, deadlines can shorten the gestation periods, but clarity can help to hasten the finishing of the project.
Let me know what you think and what you do to help yourself.
